Week 1 Playoff News and Consolation Bracket

Week one of the playoffs is behind us and like normal there were a few surprises and upsets. The smack talk is limited this morning which is surprising and only makes me think that the Rodeo Monkeys are still in shock and the Beavers are still looking through life through the bottom of the bottle. Love and Vomit has come out of nowhere to be a top contender, and the Ribbed Trojans are poised to defend their title. I have adjusted the head-to-head matchups on each site for this next week.

You will also notice that those that lost this last week also are matched up for a consolation bracket. Since I have the time (unemployment is very boring) and the software allows it, I thought it might provide some additional entertainment to allow for continued play. So here is the consolation bracket. Same rules still apply, it is only for bragging rights at this point but the competition lives on. The consolation bracket will not have a final game between the two leagues, it will just determine the individual leagues 2nd place team.

17 Hours and Counting . . .

Hi all -

By the time you read this, especially for those that stumble out of bed at the crack of noon, we will be down to under 10 hours for the start of the NFL season. I wanted to send out a final reminder to look at the line-ups submitted and make sure they are all right and working. You will still be able to change those players not playing in tonight's game, and it looks like most everyone is all set, but there are a couple of teams that might be missing a player or two (hint, hint).

Did you know that the webpages will have live scoring? You can follow along your fanasy team as the stats are updated live. This is what they at least advertise, I wonder how the bandwidth will handle Jeff (Goaline Girly Men), or Josh (Captain One Eyed Ball Movement . . . look I said it!) hitting refresh every 12 seconds, but I am sure I will give it a try.

Don't forget . . . no, actually stop what you are doing right now and head out to ESPN to enter the LTFFL Pigskin Pickem and LTFFL Gridiron Challenge contests. If you don't enter before tonight's kickoff, you are surely to lose to both Jeff and Ted and they will never let you live that down. So follow the directions and links below and get entered.

Lastly - head on over to /Page 2 of Mutatoville, my personal website and critique my team on ESPN Fantasy Football. I pride myself in being able to field a team. I actually bought the 3-pack this year, but will be focused on this team since the Goaline Girly Men joined this league and has already offered me 7 trades and the games have not even begun. I say this, as I will publish Friday my predictions for both leagues. I guarantee you that will not be predicting that the Steelers make the Superbowl like I have been hearing this year. My predictions will focus on the LTFFL

Press Release: LTFFL Draft Lottery

Taylorsville, UT (LTFFL) : The LTFFL Draft Lottery will be conducted today at the Coffee Tree coffee house located at 1720 W 5000 S (basically next to the army navy store on redwood road). Teams from each league will be pulled from a hat to determine the draft ranking for this Saturday's LTFFL draft. All owners, friends and familyi are invited to attend. Heck just stop by to talk some smack.

Contrary to popular rumors circulating throughout the league, Dacomish again reiterated that there would be no recognition or moments of silence for the impending retirement of Terrell Davis.

Final results of the LTFFL Draft lottery, as well as the final location for this Saturday's draft will be emailed out after the draft lottery.

Press Release: Team "A Bear and a Rabbit" discloses Stadium delays and inability to compete

Herriman, UT (LTFFL): LTFFL Team: "A Bear and a Rabbit" issued a press release yesterday indicating that with their planned relocation to Herriman, their new stadium will not be completed in time for this years LTFFL season. As such they will not be able to compete. Team owners Erica and Stuart were very disappointed with this news, and Primary Owner Stuart Fitton gave the following statement.

"We thought for sure the stadium would be completed by the time the season started, but we have had numerous "Sod" delays, and the additional time with my new commute have created more time away from the stadium where I was not able to kick some butt!"

Minority owner, who also wears the pants in the ownership as she would hate to be caught dead in a dress, followed-up this statement by saying, "We were really looking forward to a great year, Jack Plummer is looking good again this year, and our profits were marked to support Stu's daily commute".

Ted McCune, franchise owner for "Love and Vomit" upon hearing the news, claimed "They just were afraid of me again this year! I could see Stuart trembling in his boots from here."

Dacomish, of the LTFFL, mentioned that they will be missed, and said that "Stuart is an avid fan, he ran that league with a broken back last year, directing his team while flat on his back." Dacomish also added that with this news the Knobbyboys will be moved to League "SlobberKnockers" and there is an open slot in League Megahurtz. If you know of anyone interested in this team please let him know.

Just and FYI that we will be using new software this year. There might be some kinks to work out, but it is a proven package and the good news is 100% of all transactions, trades and rosters submissions will ALL take place online. So you had better upgrade that modem. Some of you have already seen a demo, for the rest of you, you can check out www.myfantasyleague.com and run through their demo to see how things look. /Draft 2 Weeks and Counting

Hi all, I wanted to send out an update and let everyone know that things are moving along. This seems like a different year for football for me and it isn't just because I don't have NFL Sunday Ticket, but traditions are good and it is good to see LTFFL will be back for another year.

Before going to much further I wanted to tell you to forward this on to others that are not in the mailing list, (Jeff and Jason this means you). I still don't have email addresses from a lot of the new owners (and some of the veterans to LTFFL) so tell them to get me their email address and forward this along to them.

It looks like we will have to break from tradition a bit this year in that our usual draft place is booked. Can you believe it! But I have another place reserved (though they don't serve Beer) and I am looking for something even better (meaning they serve Beer). More info on this will follow, but still plan on it being on the 24th. If anyone has any suggestion let me know as well. I am looking for something very similar, and someplace where one can bring kids, but also drink some beer.

We have enough interest, we are looking at 23 teams so far if everyone pans out. You can see the list below. There are two issues arising, 1 is with 23 confirmed teams needing to either have 2 - 12 team leagues or 3 -10 team leagues and find some additional owners. Or we could just kick out 3 teams and keep it at 2 - 10 team leagues. This is something that we need to decide in the upcoming days, so if you have any comments reply back to the list (remember if you are a member you can send email to it by sending it to ltfflsmack@gr8mutato.net or just send your comments to me directly.

We will also as usual have an interesting time on getting the right people in the right leagues. Seems like everyone always wants to beat up on Ted and Jeff. Plus they have their friends that they want to strategize with.

Lottery:
I will plan on having the draft lottery, to assign draft picks on the 21st of August, where everyone can meet if they like and participate. This is really just an attempt to do something since I am bored out of my mind since I was laid off. So if you want to join in, talk some smack, plan on 6:30pm on the 21st at The Coffee Tree (approximately 4900 So Redwood road, right by the Army Navy Surplus store).

Software and System:
No news here, I will be looking at some other options. I am tempted to stay with what has worked in the past, but there are some of you out there that are suggesting other options. We will see.

Teams expressing interest so far: (if I missed anyone let me know)

/Tuttle Bowl Champion
The winner of this years Tuttle Bowl and grandprize winner is . . .

The Ribbed Trojans!

It was a hard fought game but the defense of the Ribbed Trojans held Photo Finish to only 37 points, while Marshall Faul led the way for the Trojans scoring 39 points alone and the Trojans team putting up 83 total points.

Congratulations to the Ribbed Trojans for a job well done, and added pressure from a first time LTFFL owner.

A reconciliation of adds/drops and weekly payouts will follow shortly. Thanks for another Great Year!
